I always enjoyed going to the Woodburn Dragstrip during my earlier drag racing days. I often came here for the Les Schwab Challenge and the Night of Fire events.
The dragstrip is incredibly popular. There are tons of people that come to watch the races, and there are many cars and drivers, too. I’m talking over 330 cars racing! You’ll also get to meet other spectators and see jet cars, nitro and alcohol cars, and wheel standers. There are just so many cool things, including lots of racing with big purses.
It’s a beautiful track. And the air is usually better at the Woodburn Dragstrip too. So the cars perform better here because of a lower density altitude.
One year, I was pitted against K&N Motorsports (they make air filters). And the California car duster team (Jimmy DeFrank with his speedy Chevy Cobalt)!
People are also genuinely friendly here. For instance, the drag racers always seem willing to help you out and share their knowledge with you. Additionally, it’s a wonderful family environment. And the wives and girlfriends like coming too as there’s a great shopping outlet nearby.
